Why Theater?

Happy Friday from Orlando Shakespeare Theater!

Here at Orlando Shakes we have been discussing why we do what we do. Is it because we love theater? Because we love watching our audiences enjoy a performance? Or is it something even less easy to describe?

The difference between a movie and live theater is the connection the actors make with each singular audience, never to be repeated. We hope these moments spark dialogue and create memories that last a lifetime.

Like the actors on the stage, the OST Staff wants to create connections with our audience. We want to know each and every one of you, and we want you to know us. Every Friday (if I have counted right) we’ll introduce you to one of our fabulously talented administration or production staff members.

So, if you see us in the OST lobby or at the grocery store or enjoying dinner out on the town, please stop by and say hello!

OK. I’ll start.

I started with Orlando Shakes in 2004 (I feel old) as an acting/marketing intern, performing in A Little Night Music, Stuart Little, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and more! Since then, I served as the Marketing Coordinator for three seasons where I acted in several shows here at OST and around Orlando before returning to school to get an MFA in Musical Theater from the University of Central Florida.

After a short stint as Company Manager, I wholeheartedly accepted the Director of Marketing position. I feel extremely lucky that I get to talk about what I love to do – for the Company I love to work for – every single day.

Our Season kicks off next week with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). I’ll be there opening night, so please stop by and say hello!

Let’s connect!

P.S. – I also have a 7 month old baby named Calvin. I am ALWAYS willing to talk about him, so feel free to ask! 🙂
