Orlando Shakespeare Theater 2012-2013 Season Auditions

The Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is holding AEA and Open Call auditions for the 2012 – 2013 Season.

Equity Principal Auditions by APPOINTMENT or WALK UP:
Tuesday, April 24, 2012 – 2 p.m. -10 p.m. (break from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.)
Wednesday, April 25, 2012 – 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (break from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.)

OPEN Auditions (AEA/Non-AEA): 
Thursday, April 26,10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (break from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.)

Friday, April 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (break from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.).
Equity Members w/o appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits.

  • Titus Andronicus: Male, 50s-60s. Roman General. Seeking excellent Shakespearean actor with great stage presence, experience with verse and gravitas.
  • Marcus Andronicus: Male, 50s-60s. Brother to Titus.
  • Tamora: Female, 40s. Queen of the Goths.  Sexy, evil. Seeking actress great with verse.
  • Aaron:  Male, 35-45. A moor, lover of Tamora.  Sexy, delights in evil. Seeking Shakespearean actor with great stage presence.
  • Lucius: male 30-40. Son to Titus.  Seeking Shakespearean actor with good fight experience.
  • Saturninus: Male 30-40. Becomes Emperor of Rome.  Wicked and cruel ruler, selfish, egotistical.
  • Young Lucius: Male 9-12. Son to Lucius.  Innocent, naïve.  Must be comfortable with stage violence and excessive stage blood and gore.

  • Iago: CAST. Performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.
  • Desdemona: Caucasian, 20s-30s. Young, innocent, beautiful wife of Othello.
  • Cassio: Male, 20s-30s. Young handsome soldier, naïve.
  • Emilia: Female 30s-40s. Wife of Iago. Handmaiden to Desdemona.
  • Brabantio: Caucasian Male, 50s-60s. Jealous father of Desdemona.
  • Roderigo: Male 20s-30s. Foolish suitor to Desdemona. A dupe and fool.

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

Romance.  By John Jory, adapted from Jane Austen. First Reh 12/17/12. Runs 2/6/13-3/17/13

  • Colonel Brandon: Male, 35-45. A retired Officer. In love with Marianne.
  • Elinor Dashwood: Female, 19. The heroine of Austen’s novel. Intelligent, beautiful, headstrong.
  • Edward Ferrars: Male, 20s. Sensible, honorable, handsome. In love with Elinor.
  • Mrs. Henry Dashwood: Female, 40s-60s. Sensible mother of the Dashwoods. Kind and loving.
  • Sir John Middleton: Male, 50s-60s – Jovial but vulgar relative of the Dashwoods. Comic, fatherly.
  • Mrs. Jennings: Female 50s-60s. Gossipy country relative. Well intentioned, jovial, but a bit vulgar.
  • Willoughby: 20s-30s – An attractive but deceitful suitor of Marianne’s. Abandons her for wealth.
