Behind the scenes at Orlando Shakespeare Theater

This Fall at Orlando Shakes

Hey There Everyone!

The 2011-2012 Season of Orlando Shakespeare Theater has officially begun with the Opening of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Since I had to help with the Opening Night, I got the chance to see a preview the night before, and I was very impressed. The theatre was filled with people, young and old, enjoying their evening out, together, laughing themselves to tears at an already hilarious play, made even more entertaining by the talented actors and beautiful production design. The show was a gorgeous, hysterical, and intelligent night of theater. I felt a great sense of community and support in that room, and that is what theater is all about for me, the collaboration between performers and audiences to attain a meaningful experience. There are some great reviews up from the Orlando Sentinel and Orlando Weekly. If you haven’t seen it yet, please come, and if you have, come again!

The Opening Night Party was a great success, with catering provided by Edible Orlando. It was wonderful to see the interaction between the audience and the people who had worked so hard to bring them an evening of entertainment. Also, tonight is Orlando Shakes’ $20 Under 30 event. If you’re under 30 years of age, you can see a great show for only $20! There will also be a special happy hour event starting at 6:30pm before the 8:00pm curtain.

Plays and Events

Rehearsals for God of Carnage and Miss Nelson is Missing begin soon, and I couldn’t be more excited. Community classes are going great and I’m learning so much as a peformer, as well as about the business of theatre, with every day here at Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Happy Fall!
